Jillaroos Lose Robinson for Tournament as Gallagher Earns Call-Up for Wales Clash
Australia's Jillaroos have lost star back Julia Robinson for the rest of the Rugby League World Cup with a dislocated wrist, with Sheridan Gallagher called into the squad to face Wales.

Australia's Jillaroos have suffered a major blow at the Rugby League World Cup, with star back Julia Robinson ruled out for the rest of the tournament after suffering a dislocated wrist in the win against England. While there was no fracture, further scans determined ligament damage that has forced her onto the sidelines. Raiders back Sheridan Gallagher has been called straight into the extended squad to face Wales this weekend after being rewarded for a standout season.
"We are sad to see Julia's injury has forced her out of this year's campaign, she has been in great form on the field and is a key figure and strong presence around the squad," said coach Jess Skinner. "However, we are excited to see Sheridan come into the Jillaroos to experience camp for the first time. She was a standout for the Raiders in their push to the finals this year and provides plenty of versatility and has been rewarded for her great season."
Despite the setback, the Jillaroos have named another strong line-up for Sunday's triple header in Sydney, with last week's debutantes Makenzie Weale and Sariah Paki both promoted into the starting forward pack. Broncos halfback Jesse Southwell has been named to make her first appearance of the World Cup at five-eighth alongside Tarryn Aiken, while Jess Sergis returns to the side in the centres in place of Robinson. The defending champions will look to continue their build into the finals — but losing Robinson is a blow no team would choose.
