Jódar to Break Into ATP Top 10 in Debut Season After Record 287-Day Climb
Spain's Rafael Jódar will enter the ATP top 10 for the first time on Monday, becoming the first player ever to reach the milestone in his debut season on tour.

Rafael Jódar will officially break into the ATP top 10 on Monday, completing one of the fastest climbs in modern tennis history. The 20-year-old Spaniard needed only 287 days from his main-tour debut at the Australian Open in January to reach the sport's elite group, becoming the first player ever to crack the top 10 in his debut season. Jódar's place was secured when Taylor Fritz, the last man who could have kept him out, lost to Valentin Vacherot in the Swiss Indoors Basel semi-finals on Saturday. He becomes the 21st Spanish man to reach the top 10, joining a list that includes Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, David Ferrer and Juan Carlos Ferrero. It caps a breakthrough year in which Jódar, who started 2026 ranked outside the top 150, won his first ATP title in Marrakech, reached the final in Washington and made the Shanghai Masters final. His attention now turns to the Paris Masters, where he opens against Alejandro Tabilo, while also holding the final direct qualifying place for the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin.
