Jean Hugo produced a stunning final round to win the inaugural Portugal Legends Championship on Sunday, closing with a bogey-free, course-record 62 at Pinheirinho to win by six shots. The South African finished at 20 under par, with England's Greg Owen second on 14 under after a closing 65 and Johan Edfors a further shot back in third. Hugo's 62 broke the course record of 65 that Phillip Archer had set only the day before.
It was Hugo's second Staysure Legends Tour title in three events, following his breakthrough victory at the Reignwood Legends Championship in Beijing in October, and it confirmed a remarkable late-season run of form. A ten-under-par round without a single dropped shot is rare at any level of the game; to produce it with a title on the line, on a course hosting its first Legends event, made it all the more impressive.
Owen remains in contention on the Road to Cambodia Order of Merit, but this week belonged to Hugo, who arrives at the next event as the form player of the autumn.
