Holt Takes Korn Ferry Tour Championship Lead With Three-Win Promotion in Sight
Ian Holt fired a 7-under 64 on Thursday to lead the Korn Ferry Tour Championship, one victory from an instant PGA Tour promotion.

Ian Holt grabbed the first-round lead at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship on Thursday, carding a 7-under 64 at The Federal Club in Glen Allen, Virginia — and put himself within touching distance of an instant PGA Tour promotion.
Holt made eight birdies against a single bogey, closing with three birdies in his final five holes (Nos. 14, 15 and 17) to lead Barend Botha by one stroke. A victory on Sunday would complete the Three-Victory Promotion, earning immediate PGA Tour status and eligibility for the remaining FedExCup Fall events — a feat last achieved by Matt McCarty in 2024.
Holt sits No. 3 on the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour Points List after back-to-back early-season wins in the Bahamas and Panama, and is already one of 13 "TourBound" players mathematically assured of a PGA Tour card. Former Air Force captain Kyle Westmoreland's 5-under 66 left him in the mix, though nothing short of a win can get him inside the top 20. This was Holt's third 18-hole lead or co-lead in 66 career Korn Ferry starts.
