Hoffenheim Claim First Europa League Win in Style With 3-0 Rout of Lyon
Hoffenheim earned their first points of the Europa League league phase with a dominant 3-0 win over Lyon in Sinsheim, ending the French side's perfect start with goals from Andrej Kramarić, Adam Daghim and Adam Hložek.

Hoffenheim finally opened their Europa League account on Thursday night, and they did it in style. Christian Ilzer's side dominated Lyon 3-0 at the SNP Arena to claim their first points of the 2026/27 league phase after back-to-back defeats had left them empty-handed.
The hosts were full value for the win from the start. After knocking repeatedly on the door in the first half, Andrej Kramarić headed home deep in stoppage time to give Hoffenheim a deserved 1-0 lead at the break.
Lyon, who had won their first two league-phase games, offered little resistance after the restart — Adam Daghim doubled the advantage within four minutes of the second half, coolly finishing after a fine pressing move, before Kramarić turned provider again late on, teeing up substitute Adam Hložek for a confident third from the edge of the box.
The numbers told the story: Hoffenheim mustered 18 shots to Lyon's six, and goalkeeper Oliver Baumann barely had a serious save to make. The result lifts Hoffenheim to 23rd in the league-phase table. Next up for Ilzer's men is a trip to Crystal Palace on November 5, while Lyon must regroup after their perfect start was shattered in Sinsheim.
