Hertl Strikes With 35 Seconds Left as Golden Knights Edge Penguins 3-2

Tomas Hertl chose the perfect moment to strike twice. The Vegas forward scored his second goal of the game with just 35 seconds left in the third period, converting on the power play with a quick wrist shot in the crease off a pass from Mark Stone, to give the Golden Knights a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday. Trevor Connelly also scored for Vegas, Jack Eichel recorded two assists and Adin Hill made 23 saves as the Golden Knights snapped out of a run in which they had lost five of six. Rickard Rakell scored for Pittsburgh, who have now lost three in a row. The late winner was harsh on the Penguins, who had fought their way back into a game that looked to be heading for overtime, only to be undone by a power-play opportunity in the final minute. For Vegas, the victory was a timely one after a shootout loss in Boston the previous night, and it showed the value of keeping a game alive until the very end. Hertl's composure in front of goal, with the clock running down and the man advantage in his favour, made the difference.
