Hatton and Poulter Join LIV Golf Exodus as League's Roster Bleeds Out
Tyrrell Hatton and Ian Poulter announced Friday they will not be part of LIV Golf 2.0, joining a growing player exodus as the breakaway league fights to relaunch after filing for bankruptcy.

The departure lounge at LIV Golf keeps getting busier. On Friday, Englishmen Tyrrell Hatton and Ian Poulter became the latest big names to confirm they are walking away from the Saudi-backed league, announcing on Instagram they will not sign on for LIV 2.0.
Hatton, 35, kept his message brief. "Wanted to confirm that I will not be a part of LIV 2.0," he wrote, thanking fans and saying he was excited for the next chapter. Hatton joined LIV in 2024, won LIV Nashville that same season, and was part of Jon Rahm's Legion XIII, which captured the 2025 team championship.
Poulter, 50, offered a longer goodbye. One of the first players to sign with LIV at its inception in 2022 and among its most outspoken defenders, he said he made the call after discussions with his family. He cited more time at home, less international travel, and a focus on senior golf as the deciding factors. Poulter co-captained the all-English Majesticks GC alongside Lee Westwood; the team finished 12th in the 13-team league last season.
Australian Lucas Herbert also confirmed his departure Friday and will return to the DP World Tour in 2027. The trio follows Jon Rahm, Tom McKibbin, Abraham Ancer, Louis Oosthuizen and Charles Howell III out the door, leaving LIV's relaunch — under a potential $300 million funding commitment from BC Partners — with a shrinking roster as the October 25 player deadline approaches.
