Hachimura Explodes for 21 in Clippers Preseason Debut Against Warriors

Rui Hachimura made quite the first impression in a Clippers uniform. The Japanese forward erupted for a game-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, in just 15 first-half minutes as Los Angeles edged the Golden State Warriors 104-101 in their preseason opener at Honolulu's Stan Sheriff Center on Sunday. Hachimura, who signed a two-year, $28 million deal with the Lakers' crosstown rivals over the summer, looked every bit the steal. Four of his eight baskets came off passes from Darius Garland, who added 15 points of his own, and the starters sat at halftime with the Clippers up 55-43. The night also made history: Hachimura and Yuki Kawamura became the first pair of Japanese teammates to share an NBA court, with Kawamura scoring a point in four minutes of action. Rookie Keaton Wagler, the fifth overall pick, hit the go-ahead 19-footer with 14 seconds left to seal the win after a rough shooting night.
