Gritsyuk and Jack Hughes Score Twice as Devils Beat Golden Knights 5-2 in Vegas
Arseny Gritsyuk and Jack Hughes each scored two goals as New Jersey beat Vegas 5-2, with Connor Hellebuyck winning his second straight start since joining the Devils.

Arseny Gritsyuk and Jack Hughes each scored a pair of goals on Friday as the New Jersey Devils beat the Vegas Golden Knights 5-2 in Las Vegas. Luke Hughes also scored for the Devils, who went 2-1-0 on a three-game Western Conference road trip and have now won five of six overall. Luke Hughes opened the scoring with a slap shot from the top of the left faceoff circle, but Vegas briefly took the lead when Mark Stone and Ivan Barbashev scored in a 90-second span late in the first period. The Devils steadied from there: Gritsyuk tied the score less than a minute after Vegas went ahead, capitalising on turnovers deep in the Golden Knights' zone, and Jack Hughes put New Jersey in front early in the second. Gritsyuk, who leads the Devils with eight goals, and Hughes, who added an empty-netter with 2:51 remaining for his sixth goal of the year, did the damage at both ends of the game. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck made 19 saves while improving to 2-0-0 for the Devils since he was acquired from the Winnipeg Jets on October 23. Adin Hill recorded 27 saves for the Golden Knights, who have lost four of five. For New Jersey, a winning road trip and a goalie finding form quickly after a mid-season move make this a Friday night worth banking.
