Gravenberch Ruled Out of Fenerbahce Trip as Liverpool Confirm Heel Injury
Liverpool have confirmed midfielder Ryan Gravenberch will miss Wednesday's Champions League trip to Fenerbahce with a heel injury, leaving him as one of five absentees for the Istanbul tie.

Liverpool's injury list grew again on Tuesday morning when the club confirmed Ryan Gravenberch will not travel for Wednesday's Champions League meeting with Fenerbahce. The Netherlands midfielder has a heel problem and will stay at the AXA Training Centre for treatment instead of flying to Istanbul. He was an unused substitute in Sunday's 1-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal, when Trey Nyoni and Alexis Mac Allister were preferred in midfield, and had been expected to return to the side in Turkey. The setback continues a stop-start campaign for the 24-year-old, who has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season but only four league starts, partly because of a sending-off against Manchester City and the suspension that followed. He did complete the full 90 minutes in each of Liverpool's last two Champions League games, against LASK Linz and Villarreal, so his absence removes a player who had become a regular in Europe. Gravenberch is one of five Liverpool absentees for the trip, with Jeremie Frimpong also sidelined by a thigh injury until after the international break. The severity of the heel injury is not yet clear, and the Dutchman is already an early doubt for Sunday's league visit to Crystal Palace. Liverpool sit third in the Champions League league-phase table as one of only five teams still holding a perfect record.
