Giants Return Specialist Braxton Berrios to Miss Rest of Season After Foot Surgery
New York Giants wide receiver and return specialist Braxton Berrios announced Tuesday that he needs surgery on his injured foot and will miss the rest of the 2026 season, the latest setback in an injury-ravaged run for the 31-year-old veteran.

New York Giants wide receiver Braxton Berrios announced Tuesday that his 2026 season is over. The veteran posted on Instagram that he will undergo surgery on an injured foot, ending his first year with the Giants just four games in. New York had already placed Berrios on injured reserve on Monday, a day after he appeared in the team's 36-24 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Berrios, 31, arrived in New York primarily as the team's lead kick and punt returner. Through four games he had averaged 27.6 yards per kickoff return and saw only 24 offensive snaps, with one target and no catches. His absence opens the door for the Giants' younger receivers and backup return options for the rest of the campaign. Injuries have defined Berrios's recent seasons. He tore his ACL in his second year with the Miami Dolphins in 2024, then played only four regular-season games for the Houston Texans in 2025, though he did appear in their playoff loss to New England. Across the last three seasons he has played just 14 regular-season games. Berrios's best years came with the New York Jets from 2019 to 2022, when he earned All-Pro honors in 2021 after averaging 30.4 yards per kickoff return and totaling 1,524 all-purpose yards. Over his career, the Miami product has appeared in 95 games with 11 total touchdowns and 5,074 all-purpose yards. The Giants continue their season looking to fill his role in the return game while navigating a growing list of absences.
