Giannis Declares Heat Culture "Real" After Blockbuster Debut in Miami
Giannis Antetokounmpo scored nine points with seven assists in 14 minutes in his Heat preseason debut, then raved about Miami's culture.

The Giannis Antetokounmpo era in Miami is officially underway. The two-time MVP made his Heat debut on Saturday in a 129-105 preseason win over the Toronto Raptors, contributing nine points and seven assists in just 14 minutes as he slotted seamlessly alongside his new teammates.
But it was his post-game comments that made the biggest splash. Speaking to The Athletic's Eric Nehm, Antetokounmpo insisted the fabled "Heat Culture" is no myth: "It's real, and I love every [expletive] second of it. It gives me goosebumps. It's almost like being alive again." He described it as togetherness, communication and hard work — qualities he has felt since landing in South Beach.
With newcomer Klay Thompson also starting alongside Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell, Miami's revamped roster looks formidable. The regular season begins October 21 at home against Minnesota — and if Saturday was any indication, the Heat's championship ambitions are very real too.
