Gauff and Pegula Punch Fifth Straight WTA Finals Tickets in Historic American Double
Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula officially qualified for the 2026 WTA Finals in Indian Wells on Wednesday, becoming the first American pair to qualify together five years running since 1993.

Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula booked their places at the 2026 WTA Finals on Wednesday, the WTA announced, sealing a fifth consecutive joint appearance at the season-ending championship in Indian Wells. Only eight singles players make the November 8-15 hard-court event, which carries a $15.5 million prize pool.
The American duo's joint run now spans 2022 through 2026, making them the first American pair to qualify together for five straight editions since Mary Joe Fernandez and Zina Garrison managed it from 1989 to 1993 — and the first same-country pair anywhere since Nathalie Tauziat and Sandrine Testud between 1997 and 2001. Their week-to-week staying power is just as striking: the pair have now occupied top-10 places simultaneously for 209 consecutive weeks, the first same-country duo to pass the 200-week mark since Serena and Venus Williams in 2003.
Pegula, 32, is ranked world No. 4 and owns two titles this season from Dubai and Charleston. Gauff, 22, is world No. 5, with her lone 2026 title coming at the Cincinnati Open in August — where she beat Pegula in the final. Both have pedigree at the Finals: Gauff lifted the trophy in 2024 after beating Qinwen Zheng in the championship match, while Pegula reached the 2023 final before falling to Iga Swiatek.
Confirmation arrived on a day of mixed fortunes for the pair, with Pegula already out of the Wuhan Open after Jelena Ostapenko saved three match points to beat her. But their season-long body of work had long since done the talking. Defending champion Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva and Linda Noskova have also qualified, leaving two spots still to be decided.
