Gaudreau's Double and Four-Goal Barrage Power Kraken Past Red Wings 6-3

The Seattle Kraken turned a two-goal deficit into a rout in the blink of an eye, scoring four times in a 10-minute span of the second period to beat the Detroit Red Wings 6-3 on Friday night at Little Caesars Arena.

Frederick Gaudreau scored twice — his first multi-goal game in two seasons with Seattle — while Ben Myers added a goal and two assists and Mackie Samoskevich also found the net during the decisive burst. Berkly Catton opened the scoring for the Kraken, and Vince Dunn added a 5-on-3 power-play goal in the third.

Philipp Grubauer made 38 saves to survive an early Detroit onslaught, as the Red Wings outshot Seattle 40-24 but were repeatedly denied. John Gibson was chased after surrendering five goals on 15 shots, giving way to Daniil Tarasov for his Detroit debut.

The loss deepened the gloom in Detroit. After William Wallinder's first NHL goal briefly put the Red Wings ahead 2-1, the Kraken answered with three goals in just over three minutes, and the home crowd's chants of "sell the team" grew louder as the game slipped away. Viktor Arvidsson scored on the power play for a third straight game, and Michael Brandsegg-Nygård also netted his first NHL goal in defeat. It was Seattle's first regulation win in Detroit. The Kraken visit Washington on Sunday; Detroit travels to Montreal on Saturday.
