Frick Makes History as First Woman to Direct a Ryder Cup

The PGA of America has named Laura Frick championship director for the 2029 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Club, making her the first female PGA of America Member to hold the job for a Ryder Cup. The appointment, announced on November 2, puts Frick in charge of one of golf's biggest stages when the matches return to Chaska, Minnesota, from September 24 to 30, 2029. Frick, from Hudsonville, Michigan, graduated from Ferris State University's PGA Golf Management program in 2015, and in June she ran the 2026 KPMG Women's PGA Championship at Hazeltine, becoming the first woman PGA of America Member to direct any of the association's spectator championships. Hazeltine will become the first course in the United States to host the Ryder Cup twice, having staged the Americans' 17-11 win in 2016, with Adare Manor in Ireland hosting first in September 2027. Frick's appointment is a landmark moment for the championship and for women in golf leadership, and it gives the 2029 event a director who already knows Hazeltine inside out.
