Fonseca Confirms Alcaraz Rematch in São Paulo Exhibition on December 12
Brazil's João Fonseca announced in an Instagram video that he will face Carlos Alcaraz in an exhibition match at Palmeiras' home stadium in São Paulo on December 12, setting up a rematch of their December 2025 Miami showdown and his first outing ahead of the 2027 season.

João Fonseca has confirmed he will take on Carlos Alcaraz in an exhibition match in São Paulo, Brazil, on December 12, giving Brazilian fans a home-soil rematch of their December 2025 Miami duel. The 20-year-old Brazilian made the announcement in a video posted to Instagram on October 22, inviting fans to the showdown at Palmeiras' home stadium in São Paulo.
"Hey everyone, it's João Fonseca, and I have an invitation for you," he said. "After that match in Miami, it's time for a rematch — and this time, it'll be on home soil. On December 12th, I'll be taking the court in São Paulo to face none other than Carlos Alcaraz. It's going to be awesome!"
Alcaraz edged their Miami exhibition 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 last December, and the Spaniard also won their only official tour meeting, a second-round clash at the Miami Open in March 2026, 6-4, 6-4. The announcement came after Fonseca shut down his 2026 competitive season early, having not played since withdrawing from the Cincinnati Open, prioritising full recovery for 2027. By December he will have been off tour for nearly four months, making the exhibition his first test ahead of the new season. For Alcaraz, the six-time Grand Slam champion, the date adds to an already busy exhibition calendar before the 2027 season begins.
