Flyers Place Ristolainen on Injured Reserve and Activate York

The Philadelphia Flyers announced a blue-line shuffle on Tuesday, placing defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen on injured reserve while activating fellow rearguard Cam York from injured reserve. Forward Jacob Gaucher was also recalled from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL. Ristolainen's placement is retroactive to October 24, and he is expected to be out for the next two weeks with an upper-body injury.

Ristolainen, 31, had already missed nine games earlier this season with a hand injury before re-aggravating it last Saturday in a 5-4 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. The Finnish rearguard has yet to register a point in four appearances this season, averaging just over 17 minutes of ice time. His absence is another blow for a Flyers side sitting near the bottom of the Eastern Conference in win percentage.

York, 25, has been on injured reserve since last Sunday, retroactive to his last appearance on October 8, also with an upper-body injury. He failed to score a point in his first five games of the season but averages 21:49 of ice time, ranking third on the team. Philadelphia went 3-4-1 with York out of the lineup, and his return for Tuesday night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets gives the Flyers a much-needed stabilising presence on the back end.
