Fichardt Eagles the Last to Win Simmons Bank Championship
Darren Fichardt eagled the par-five 18th to snatch a one-shot win over Zach Johnson at the Simmons Bank Championship, his first PGA Tour Champions title.

Darren Fichardt produced a stunning finish to win the Simmons Bank Championship on Sunday, eagling the par-five 18th hole to beat Zach Johnson by a single shot. The South African closed with an eight-under 64 to finish at 22 under par at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock, Arkansas, after a two-horse race down the stretch with Johnson. The pair were tied at 20 under standing on the final tee, and Johnson briefly moved ahead with a birdie to cap his own 64. Fichardt answered in spectacular fashion, holing his eagle putt to snatch the title and claim the $365,000 winner's share. It was his first victory on the PGA Tour Champions, and it came at the perfect moment: Fichardt started the week in 46th place in the Charles Schwab Cup standings but climbed to 17th, securing one of the 36 places in the season finale and a tour card for 2027. Johnson, who remained second in the points standings behind Stewart Cink, will head to the finale despite the disappointment of losing in such dramatic fashion.
