Feyi-Waboso Handed England Autumn Boost After Positive Hamstring Scan

Immanuel Feyi-Waboso looks set to be available for England's autumn campaign after Exeter provided a positive update on the wing's hamstring injury on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old hobbled off in the second half of Exeter's 34-28 victory over Newcastle last weekend, sparking fears he could miss the new Nations Championship. But Chiefs director of rugby Rob Baxter said scans revealed little damage and testing has been encouraging, making Feyi-Waboso a strong bet for the opening fixture against Australia on November 8.

Baxter said the club is hopeful of treating the winger's symptoms over the next week and confirmed there is nothing coming from the medical staff to suggest a long-term problem, noting how well Feyi-Waboso has reported since the game. The wing has already been assessed by an England physio, with the national camp eager to have him available for the autumn Tests.

Injury has limited Feyi-Waboso to just 16 caps since his debut two years ago, with shoulder, hamstring and concussion setbacks interrupting his international rise. As one of England's centrally-contracted players, his medical arrangements are closely managed between club and country — and both sides will hope there is no dispute over when "Manny" is ready to return.
