Fetu Samoa Smash 76-0 Past Wales in Record-Breaking Women's World Cup Rout
Samoa ran in 14 unanswered tries to thrash Wales 76-0 in a Women's Rugby League World Cup Group A clash at CommBank Stadium on Friday night, setting a national record.

Fetu Samoa produced a national record performance on Friday night, running in 14 unanswered tries to demolish Wales 76-0 in their Women's Rugby League World Cup Group A clash at CommBank Stadium in Sydney.
The 14 tries are the most Samoa have ever scored in a women's international, eclipsing their previous best of 52 points against Russia in 2008. The result also stands as Wales' heaviest defeat. Nineteen-year-old Tyra Ekepati marked her debut with a hat-trick, Mino-Sinapati and Taulelei-Siala grabbed doubles, and Amber Hall was named player of the match after a try, nine tackle breaks and 108 metres. Pauline Piliae-Rasabale set a new Samoan record with 10 conversions.
Samoa led 40-0 at half-time — Wales' second straight World Cup game conceding 40 first-half points after their 70-6 loss to England in round one. Laikha Clarke opened the scoring in the ninth minute with Samoa's first World Cup try in around 18 years.
Coach Frank Pritchard's side now heads to Wollongong to face England on Friday, October 30, with semi-final implications depending on Saturday's Jillaroos–England result. Wales finish their pool campaign against co-hosts Australia on Sunday, November 1, with captain Annetta Nu'uausala leading a group that will need to regroup quickly.
