Ferrari Switch Brazil FP1 Plan as Beganovic Replaces Leclerc at Interlagos

Ferrari has confirmed a change to its plans for the opening practice session of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, with Dino Beganovic set to replace Charles Leclerc in first practice at Interlagos. The Swedish youngster, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, will take over Leclerc's car for Friday's opening session as the team continues its development programme and fulfils its obligations under Formula 1's rookie driver regulations. Ferrari had initially intended to give Brazilian youngster Rafael Camara an opportunity to make his Formula 1 debut during his home Grand Prix weekend. That plan was disrupted after a shock move involving Haas in Mexico, and Ferrari has consequently turned to Beganovic instead. The decision gives the Swede another opportunity to demonstrate his progress within the development programme after previous outings in Ferrari machinery. Ferrari was the only team among the 11 constructors not to field a rookie during the opening practice session in Mexico, having retained its original plan there. The Interlagos outing therefore also closes that gap, and Beganovic will get a valuable full session at a demanding circuit as Ferrari looks to the final races of the season.
