Faulk and Brandsegg-Nygard Strike 45 Seconds Apart as Red Wings Down Panthers 5-3
Detroit scored twice in the opening minutes of the third period to beat Florida 5-3 in Sunrise on Monday night, ending the Panthers' three-game winning streak.

The Detroit Red Wings made the decisive move early in the final period, turning a tied game into a two-goal lead in less than a minute and holding on for a 5-3 win over the Florida Panthers on Monday night in Sunrise. Carter Mazur opened the scoring with his first NHL goal, finishing from the left circle in the first period of his 18th career game. Florida answered through Sam Reinhart later in the period, and the two sides traded goals again in the second, with Alex DeBrincat restoring Detroit's lead before Aaron Ekblad levelled matters with a short-handed effort. The deadlock lasted until just over two minutes into the third, when Justin Faulk beat Jacob Markstrom on the power play to put Detroit ahead for good. Michael Brandsegg-Nygard doubled the advantage 45 seconds later, finishing a feed from Lucas Raymond. Sam Bennett pulled one back for Florida with 3:20 remaining after Markstrom had been pulled for an extra attacker, but Emmitt Finnie sealed the result with an empty-net goal in the final seconds. Daniil Tarasov made 23 saves against his former club, while Markstrom stopped 24 shots in his first appearance since October 17 after an upper-body injury sustained in practice had cost him five games. Detroit now heads to Tampa Bay to complete its two-game Florida swing on Tuesday night.
