DP World Tour in Advanced Talks to Welcome Back LIV Defectors as Exodus Accelerates

The DP World Tour is in advanced talks to bring LIV Golf defectors back into its fold as the breakaway league's player exodus gathers pace, according to a report in Today's Golfer published on Friday.

The report says several LIV players are negotiating exit plans that would guarantee them playing opportunities on the European circuit next year — on the condition they reject the new terms proposed for LIV 2.0. A DP World Tour representative told the publication that interest among the soon-to-be former LIV golfers is high, though returnees would initially be barred from the tour's five marquee Rolex Series events.

The talks come amid a dramatic week for LIV. Jon Rahm became the highest-profile departure yet when his lawyer told a bankruptcy hearing on Wednesday that the Spaniard had reviewed the LIV 2.0 proposals and deemed them unacceptable. Two days earlier, LIV had announced a restructuring agreement with BC Partners, with players facing an October 25 deadline to commit for 2027.

On Thursday, 24-year-old Spaniard David Puig confirmed at the Open de Espana that he will leave LIV for a full DP World Tour schedule in 2027, while The Telegraph reported that Bryson DeChambeau's management has contacted tour officials about adding more European starts. DeChambeau is already set to play December's Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa, ending a near six-year absence from the tour.
