Luka Doncic produced a second spectacular performance inside 24 hours as the Los Angeles Lakers routed the Miami Heat 138-117 on Monday night. One night after scoring 45 points with 15 rebounds against Toronto, the Slovenian guard poured in 42 points on 14-of-24 shooting, adding 13 assists and seven rebounds to lift the Lakers to 6-2. It was his fourth 40-point game of the season and his fifth straight game with at least 37 points, a stretch in which he is averaging 43.4 points. Austin Reaves scored 27 points and Walker Kessler added 15 points and 15 rebounds for Los Angeles, who shot 57.3 percent from the field and 44.2 percent from three-point range. The Lakers led 79-72 at half-time, equalling the most points Miami had ever allowed before the break, then opened the third quarter with an 11-0 run and never looked back, stretching the lead to 24. Giannis Antetokounmpo paced the Heat with 30 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, but Miami lost its fifth game in seven to open a five-game West Coast trip. Doncic reached 40 points on a three-pointer with 5:37 left, and the Lakers held the Heat to just 45 second-half points after coach JJ Redick challenged his players defensively at the interval.
