Dodgers Hand Skubal Game 1 Ball, Yamamoto Game 2 for NLCS Rematch With Brewers

The Los Angeles Dodgers wasted no time setting their rotation for the National League Championship Series, announcing Friday that Tarik Skubal will start Game 1 on Sunday night against the Milwaukee Brewers, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto taking Game 2.

Skubal was dominant in his Dodgers postseason debut, firing six innings of one-run ball on just two hits to win NLDS Game 1 against Atlanta. The deadline acquisition has already faced Milwaukee once in a Dodgers uniform, allowing a single earned run over six innings in a 6-2 loss the Brewers handed him.

Yamamoto gets the Game 2 nod after stifling the Braves over seven innings in NLDS Game 3, striking out ten and walking one in a pivotal win. He owns Milwaukee this season: 2-0 with two earned runs and 12 strikeouts across two starts against the Brewers.

The series is a rematch of last year's NLCS, when Los Angeles swept Milwaukee in four games on the way to a second consecutive World Series title. This time, however, the 103-win Brewers hold home-field advantage at American Family Field, and they took four of seven regular-season meetings with the Dodgers.

Milwaukee is chasing its first World Series appearance since 1982. Los Angeles is chasing a three-peat — and its eighth consecutive postseason series win. Game 1 is set for Sunday night.
