Devils' Stefan Noesen Headlines Three NHL Players Placed on Waivers

The New Jersey Devils have placed veteran forward Stefan Noesen on waivers, the surprise name in a trio of transactions that also saw San Jose winger Brett Leason and Detroit forward Chase Stillman hit the wire, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. Noesen is the eye-catching entry. The 33-year-old has spent the last four seasons solely in the NHL with the Devils and Carolina Hurricanes, and this is his first trip through waivers since his San Jose days in 2020-21. An injury-wrecked 2025-26 campaign — just three goals and seven points in 38 games after January knee surgery — has left him buried in New Jersey's lineup, scoreless in two games this season while averaging barely seven minutes of ice time. He is in the final season of a three-year deal carrying a $2.75 million cap hit; across 484 career regular-season games he has 83 goals and 175 points. Leason, 27, made San Jose's opening-night roster after signing a one-year, $850,000 deal this summer but has yet to dress for a game, with the Sharks clearing space as Adam Gaudette nears a return from injury. In 226 NHL games the Calgary native has 25 goals and 54 points. Stillman, 23, was a first-round pick who has never played an NHL game, spending his four pro seasons in the AHL. If all three clear waivers Friday, they can be assigned to their clubs' minor-league affiliates.
