De Minaur Stuns Zverev to Set Up Vienna Final With Alcaraz
Alex de Minaur beat Alexander Zverev 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(4) in Vienna, ending his wait for a win over the German outside team events and moving into the last ATP Finals qualifying place.

Alex de Minaur produced one of the biggest wins of his career on Saturday, beating top seed Alexander Zverev 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(4) to reach the Vienna Open final. The Australian, seeded fifth, had lost all eight of his previous meetings with Zverev outside team competitions, but held his nerve in a deciding tie-break after two hours and 33 minutes on Centre Court. De Minaur took the opening set 6-4 before Zverev, who will officially become world No. 1 on Monday, dominated the second 6-1. The decider swung dramatically late on: serving at 5-6, 40-40, Zverev was two points from victory before losing his temper with the chair umpire over a time violation, and De Minaur closed out the tie-break 7-4. The win takes De Minaur into his 23rd ATP Tour final and his fourth of 2026, following Rotterdam, 's-Hertogenbosch and Beijing, and no Australian had previously reached the Vienna final. It also lifts him into the last qualifying place for the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin, one point ahead of his nearest rival in the race with the Paris Masters still to come. He will face Carlos Alcaraz, who beat Daniil Medvedev in the first semi-final, in Sunday's final.
