De Minaur Cruises Past Tien Into Vienna Quarter-Finals

Alex de Minaur is through to the Vienna quarter-finals after a composed 6-4, 6-2 win over Learner Tien in the second round of the Erste Bank Open. The Australian took control early on Centre Court and never let the young American back into the contest, closing out the straight-sets victory in efficient fashion. Tien was one of three Americans to lose in Vienna on Wednesday, joining Brandon Nakashima among the early exits, while Tiafoe had already fallen to Lorenzo Musetti. De Minaur's win keeps his late-season push on track as the race for the season-ending finals in Turin reaches its decisive weeks. Wednesday's other winners in Vienna included Daniil Medvedev, Adrian Mannarino and Nikoloz Basilashvili, who beat Jurij Rodionov 7-6, 6-1 in the first round. De Minaur will now look to carry his momentum into the last eight, where a deep run would strengthen his standing at the business end of the season.
