Davidovich Fokina Stuns Zverev to Reach Shanghai Masters Final
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina fought back from a set down to beat world No. 2 Alexander Zverev 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in Saturday's Shanghai Masters semifinal, reaching his second Masters 1000 final.

The 25th seed from Spain ripped up the script on semi-final Saturday at the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena, coming from behind to end Alexander Zverev's campaign 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in just over two hours. Zverev, the world No. 2 and the clear favorite after Carlos Alcaraz's early exit, drew first blood with a break at 5-5 to take the opener, but he never recovered once Davidovich Fokina found his rhythm.
The Spaniard's serving carried him home. After a shaky start on his second delivery, he lost only six points on serve in the second set and just three in the third, firing five aces and landing 82 percent of first serves. He won 64 of his 83 service points overall and was broken just once, saving two of three break points. He struck the decisive blows at 5-4 in the second set and again early in the decider, racing to a 2-0 lead before closing it out with a sliced service winner that forced an off-center forehand from Zverev.
It is Davidovich Fokina's second Masters 1000 final after Monte Carlo in 2022, his second career win over a top-three player, and it returns him to the world's top 15. He will face Daniil Medvedev or compatriot Rafael Jodar in Sunday's final, with an all-Spanish showdown still possible. Zverev, meanwhile, takes 400 ranking points — good enough for a 10,070 total — but stays 880 points adrift of Jannik Sinner's No. 1 spot.
