Daniel Suarez Locks In 2027 NASCAR Return With Spire Motorsports

Daniel Suarez has settled his future. The 34-year-old announced this week that he will return to Spire Motorsports for the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season, staying on with the team he joined after his departure from Trackhouse and keeping the No. 7 Chevrolet for another campaign. The announcement comes during what Suarez himself is calling one of his best seasons at the sport's top level. A winner of this year's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, he is one of the 16 drivers to make the postseason Chase and is posting a career-best 15.2 average finish along with seven top-10 finishes.

Suarez's path to NASCAR remains one of the sport's most remarkable. The Monterrey, Mexico native came up through the Drive For Diversity program after winning 10 races across three seasons in the NASCAR Mexico Series, then captured the 2016 O'Reilly Series championship — becoming the only international driver to win that title. He moved to the Cup Series full-time in 2017 and has since driven for Joe Gibbs Racing, Stewart-Haas, Gaunt Brothers, Trackhouse and now Spire. His win at Sonoma in 2022 made him the first Mexican driver to win a Cup Series race, and he added another victory in 2024 at Atlanta in the fourth-closest finish in NASCAR history. His May triumph in the Coca-Cola 600 — his third Cup win — was the first race after the shocking death of his friend and mentor Kyle Busch, making it one of the most emotional of the season. In total, Suarez owns eight victories across NASCAR's three national touring series.
