Díaz Sidelined With Hamstring Tear After Arsenal Draw, Bayern Confirm

Bayern Munich have lost Luis Díaz to injury for the coming weeks after the Colombia international suffered a minor muscle tear in his left hamstring during Wednesday night's 2-2 Champions League draw with Arsenal at the Allianz Arena.

The 29-year-old came on as a substitute in the 68th minute but was forced off in stoppage time, and examinations by Bayern's medical staff confirmed the tear on Thursday. "The forward will therefore be sidelined for the time being," the club said in a statement, offering no return date.

The injury is an untimely blow for the Bundesliga leaders. Díaz has been a key attacking option since joining the German champions, and Bayern now face a congested stretch of the season without him. Declan Rice's late equaliser denied Bayern all three points on Wednesday, leaving them to regroup before Sunday's trip to third-placed Freiburg, who sit just one point behind the champions after six league games.

Manager Vincent Kompany, in his third year in charge, will need to reshuffle his attack for the Freiburg test and the Champions League campaign ahead, with Díaz's creativity and work rate from the wing difficult to replace.
