The Golden State Warriors produced one of the great comebacks of the young NBA season on Friday night, rallying from 25 points down to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 112-95 in their Emirates NBA Cup opener at Chase Center. The Lakers, led by Luka Doncic's 21 first-quarter points, raced to a 38-15 lead after the opening period and looked set to repeat their opening-night rout. Instead, Golden State answered with a 38-15 second quarter of their own to tie the game at 53 by halftime, becoming the first team in the shot-clock era to trail by at least 23 points after the first quarter and be level at the break. Stephen Curry led the revival with 31 points, including eight three-pointers, six assists and four rebounds, and dropped Doncic with a step-back three in the third quarter. Brandin Podziemski added a season-high 21 points, and the Warriors used an 18-0 run in the fourth to pull away. Doncic finished with a game-high 37 points, but the Lakers' bench managed only seven points all night. The win lifts Golden State to 3-3, while the Lakers fall to 4-2 and now face an uphill battle to reach the Cup knockout stage.
