CSK and SRH Complete Four-Player Trade as Livingstone Takes Pay Cut to Join Chennai
Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have completed a four-player trade ahead of the IPL 2027 retention deadline, with Liam Livingstone taking a seven-crore pay cut to move to Chennai.

Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have completed a four-player trade ahead of the IPL 2027 retention deadline, the IPL confirmed on November 5. England all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards move to Chennai, while India left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Australian pacer Nathan Ellis head to Hyderabad. Livingstone has taken a major pay cut as part of the deal, dropping from 13 crore rupees to six crore, while Edwards, Khaleel and Ellis move on their existing fees of three crore, 4.8 crore and two crore respectively. Edwards is yet to make his IPL debut after being ruled out of the 2026 season with a foot injury, and Ellis did not play a single match for CSK last season because of a hamstring problem. Khaleel managed only five games before his own hamstring injury ended his campaign, while Livingstone played just twice in 2026 and spent most of the season on the bench as Heinrich Klaasen handled the middle-order role. The trade gives Chennai the big-hitting middle-order batter they lacked, with Livingstone having scored 1,066 runs in 51 IPL matches at a strike rate above 155, and it will be his fifth franchise in the league. Hyderabad, meanwhile, gain a left-arm new-ball option in Khaleel — a homecoming, after he spent four seasons with the franchise before spells at Delhi Capitals and Chennai — plus a proven death bowler in Ellis. The deadline for teams to announce their retained and released players is November 17, with the mini-auction set for December 16 in Goa.
