Corum Sparks Rams' Second-Half Surge in 24-9 Win Over Chargers

The Los Angeles Rams beat the Los Angeles Chargers 24-9 in Week 8 to improve to 4-4 on the season, and for the second consecutive week Blake Corum provided the spark the run game needed. In the first half the Rams managed just five carries for 10 yards, but on the first drive of the second half Corum carried five times for 55 yards, capped by a 23-yard touchdown run. He finished with 11 carries for 73 yards and, until the final drive, was out-carrying Kyren Williams. Corum has become an x-factor over the last two weeks, and his 23 yards after forcing missed tackles was a season high. The Rams' defence made its presence felt too: Aaron Donald recorded a tackle for loss in the run game and consistently disrupted the Chargers' plans, coming close to a scoop-and-score after a Wesley Bailey strip sack. Trent McDuffie, back on the field for the first time in two weeks, made his presence felt in coverage, and Josh Karty's dirty kickoffs added to a complete team performance. The win steadies the Rams at .500 and keeps them firmly in the NFC race, while the Chargers' struggles continue on the other side of the city rivalry.
