Cormier Calls for Miragliotta to Be Penalized Over Vegas 123 Stand-Up

Daniel Cormier has called for referee Dan Miragliotta to be penalized after his controversial intervention in the UFC Vegas 123 main event. Cormier, who was on commentary for the fight, said on his YouTube channel that Miragliotta "needs a reset" and should not work this weekend's Apex show or the UFC 334 heavyweight title card in New York. The row centres on the second round of Saturday's headliner, when Miragliotta stood Tom Nolan and Renato Moicano back up while Moicano had Nolan's back and was hunting a rear-naked choke. Moments later, Nolan turned the fight around and finished Moicano by TKO in the third round. The decision drew heavy criticism from fans, fighters and pundits, with longtime analyst Joe Rogan also scorning the call. Moicano is not planning to appeal the loss and is set to enter free agency. Cormier's intervention adds a prominent voice to the debate about officiating standards, and whether commissions should act when a single call changes the outcome of a main event.
