Corey Day's Daring Three-Wide Pass Seals Back-to-Back O'Reilly Wins at Charlotte
Corey Day threaded a breathtaking three-wide move with 10 laps remaining to win Sunday night's rain-delayed Blue Cross NC 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, his second straight NASCAR O'Reilly Series victory, edging Jesse Love by 0.728 seconds.

Corey Day is turning the NASCAR O'Reilly Series Chase on its head. The 20-year-old Hendrick Motorsports driver pulled off a stunning three-wide pass on the backstretch with 10 laps to go and held on to win Sunday night's rain-postponed Blue Cross NC 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway — his second consecutive victory. Day steered his No. 17 Chevrolet underneath defending series champion Jesse Love and Justin Allgaier and never looked back, crossing the line 0.728 seconds ahead of Love. Series points leader Sheldon Creed slipped past Allgaier on the final lap to take third, with Allgaier fourth and non-Chase driver Carson Brown fifth. The win capped a remarkable comeback drive. After winning the opening stage, Day was penalized for driving through too many pit boxes during the stage break and restarted 30th on Lap 54 — but he had charged back to seventh by the end of the second stage and was perfectly placed when Allgaier brushed the wall with 17 laps to go. It was Day's fourth win of the season and of his career, and his first at Charlotte. With back-to-back wins at Las Vegas and Charlotte, he has erased 85 points of his Chase deficit in two races and now sits third in the standings, seven points behind Creed, with Love two points off the lead. The Chase continues Saturday at Phoenix.
