Cooper Flagg's night ended in worrying fashion at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday, as the Dallas Mavericks rookie was ruled out of the game against the Indiana Pacers after a flagrant foul left him nursing his left shoulder.

The incident came late in the first half with Dallas already running away with it. Flagg was finishing a breakaway bucket that would have pushed the Mavericks' lead to 35 points when Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith smacked him from behind while he was airborne. Flagg stayed down on the baseline for an extended period as several Mavericks players confronted Nesmith.

Nesmith, playing his first game of the season after missing the opener, was assessed a Flagrant 1 foul and a technical; Mavericks forward Naji Marshall was also hit with a technical. Flagg sank both free throws before walking back to the locker room clutching his left shoulder. He finished the half with 14 points, five rebounds and six assists as Dallas led 77-43, but he did not return for the second half and was declared out, according to the DAZN broadcast.
