Flavio Cobolli has qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals without hitting a ball in Paris, after Casper Ruud's second-round win ended Rafael Jodar's hopes of reaching Turin. Cobolli withdrew from the Paris Masters on Monday with 3,690 points in the live Race to Turin, leaving his fate in other players' hands. On Tuesday, Ruud beat Jodar 6-3, 6-4, a result that left the Spaniard ninth on 3,234 points with his week over. Cobolli, the Italian, will therefore make his debut at the season-ending event in his home country from November 15 to 22. He joins Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton and Daniil Medvedev as the five men already qualified, with seven players left fighting for the final three places. Alex de Minaur, tenth on 3,170 points, would pass Jodar by beating Tomas Martin Etcheverry on Wednesday, while Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz also won on Tuesday to stay in contention. Two contenders left the race on Tuesday in other ways, with Jiri Lehecka losing to Alex Michelsen and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina withdrawing before his opening match.
