Clippers Rookie Wagler Hits Game-Winner in Preseason Debut Thriller

Keaton Wagler announced himself to the NBA in style. The Clippers' fifth overall pick finished with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in his preseason debut — and buried the go-ahead shot with 12.8 seconds remaining to seal a 104-101 victory over the Golden State Warriors in Honolulu on Sunday.

Wagler shot just 3-for-15 from the field but never lost confidence, crediting his teammates for urging him to keep shooting. "This is preseason. This is time to get better, and the only way to get better is to shoot shots," he said. Coach Tyronn Lue praised the 19-year-old's fearlessness.

Rui Hachimura led all scorers with 21 points in the first half for the Clippers, while Stephen Curry looked sharp in 13 minutes for the Warriors with 10 points. For Clippers fans, though, the night belonged to the rookie who wasn't afraid of the moment.
