Clark Urges PGA Tour to Go Global as Mexico Open Week Begins

Wyndham Clark wants the PGA Tour to think bigger. Ahead of this week's VidantaWorld Mexico Open, the former U.S. Open champion urged the Tour to add more international events to its schedule, arguing that playing different courses and engaging with fans around the world should be a larger part of the sport's future. Clark's comments echo a position Rory McIlroy has championed, and they land as the Tour stages its annual stop at Vidanta Vallarta in Mexico. The tournament runs from Thursday through Sunday with a six million dollar purse, a 1.08 million dollar winner's cheque and 500 FedExCup points on offer. Defending champion Brian Campbell returns after beating Aldrich Potgieter in a playoff last year, while Clark enters as the field's top-ranked player and the opening betting favourite. Clark has not proposed moving existing American events or outlined a specific number of new overseas stops. His message is simpler: he enjoys taking his game around the world, believes international golf deserves a larger place on the calendar, and hopes Mexico remains a regular destination. This week's event, with local professionals teeing it up alongside established international names, offers an immediate test of that appeal.
