Chiefs' Thornton Faces Lengthy Absence After Dislocated Ankle

Tyquan Thornton is expected to miss most of the season after dislocating his ankle in Sunday's win over the Raiders.

Chiefs' Thornton Faces Lengthy Absence After Dislocated Ankle

The cruelest twist of Tyquan Thornton's career arrived on the best night of it. The Chiefs wide receiver was carted off in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 30-27 win over the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium after a horse-collar tackle left him with a dislocated ankle — an injury expected to sideline him indefinitely, possibly until the January playoffs.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the ankle was reset on the field, a positive sign, but Thornton is set to miss the majority of the season. The gut punch: it came in his 46th NFL game, his finest — 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns, looking every bit the breakout star Kansas City needed.

With Rashee Rice also exiting Sunday's game with a hamstring injury, the Chiefs' receiving corps is suddenly paper-thin — which explains why Tyreek Hill's agent is suddenly very busy.
