Chaminda Vaas Joins Delhi Capitals as Fast-Bowling Coach Ahead of IPL 2027

Delhi Capitals have added a genuine fast-bowling legend to their coaching setup for IPL 2027, announcing on Saturday that Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas will take charge as the franchise's fast-bowling coach.

The 52-year-old left-arm swing great will work alongside a star-studded Indian coaching core that includes Sourav Ganguly as head coach and Yuvraj Singh as batting and assistant coach, giving Delhi one of the most decorated support staffs in the tournament.

Vaas returns to the IPL 16 years after his playing days in the league, when he turned out for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers from 2008 to 2010. This is his first coaching assignment in the competition, and the Capitals will be banking on his mastery of swing bowling and his experience of performing under pressure to lift their young Indian quicks.

His numbers need no introduction: 355 wickets in Tests and 400 in one-day internationals, making him one of the most successful fast bowlers Sri Lanka has ever produced. Known for his immaculate accuracy and late swing, Vaas was a central figure in Sri Lanka's attack for well over a decade.

The appointment completes a busy rebuild at Delhi Capitals, who have turned to proven winners at every level of their leadership as they chase a first IPL title.
