Canucks Place Chytil on Injured Reserve After Nurse Hit Re-Aggravates Injury

The Vancouver Canucks have placed forward Filip Chytil on injured reserve after he re-aggravated an upper-body injury in Thursday's 3-2 road loss to the San Jose Sharks. Chytil missed Friday's practice and was quickly ruled out of Saturday's home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, with the club recalling Jacob Quillan from AHL Abbotsford in his place. Chytil came out on the wrong end of a heavy hit from Sharks defenceman Darnell Nurse late in the third period, absorbing the check along the boards with his head down. He finished the game, playing the final 2:56, but a team spokesperson said he is being evaluated for a re-aggravation of the preseason shoulder injury that kept him out of the first eight games of the season, insisting the issue is not head-related. It is another frustrating setback in an injury-plagued career: the 27-year-old Czech has played just 34 games over parts of three seasons with Vancouver, largely due to concussions, and has two assists in seven games this term. On injured reserve he must miss at least seven days and three games, against Toronto, Anaheim and Winnipeg. Quillan, 24, acquired from Toronto in early October, is in line to make his Canucks debut against his former team.
