Bullpen Brilliance: Brewers Edge Dodgers 2-1 to Take NLCS Game 1
Brice Turang homered and Luis Lara drove in the go-ahead run as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 in Sunday night's NLCS opener, with four relievers shutting down the Dodgers over the final 5 and 2/3 innings.

In the most anticipated pitching matchup of the postseason, Milwaukee's depth beat Los Angeles' star power. The Brewers took Game 1 of the National League Championship Series 2-1 on Sunday night at American Family Field, handing the Dodgers just their second postseason loss with Tarik Skubal on the mound in eight starts. Brice Turang started the comeback with a solo home run off Skubal in the fourth inning — a 384-foot shot to left-center — and Luis Lara delivered the tiebreaking RBI single in the fifth after Garrett Mitchell walked, advanced on Cooper Pratt's sacrifice bunt, and came home on Lara's line drive to center. Milwaukee's bullpen did the rest. Jacob Misiorowski battled through 4 and 1/3 innings and 94 pitches before giving way, and DL Hall, Abner Uribe, Aaron Ashby and Trevor Megill combined for 5 and 2/3 scoreless innings. Hall induced a Freddie Freeman double-play grounder with a runner aboard in the fifth, Uribe struck out Andy Pages with runners on the corners in the sixth, and Megill survived ninth-inning walks to Kyle Tucker and pinch-hitter Josue De Paula before Mookie Betts flew out to the warning track. The Dodgers stranded nine runners and grounded into three double plays, falling to 2-for-22 with runners in scoring position in the playoffs. It was Milwaukee's first postseason win over Los Angeles since 2018, ending a seven-game skid against the defending champions. Game 2 is Monday in Milwaukee, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto starting for the Dodgers against Logan Henderson for the Brewers.
