Bucs' Injury Woes Grow as Kicker McLaughlin Sits Out Practice Before Cowboys Clash

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' injury report keeps growing at the worst possible time. As the 0-4 Bucs prepare for Thursday night's Week 5 trip to Dallas, kicker Chase McLaughlin was added to the official report Tuesday after missing the team's walk-through with right groin and hip injuries. He was not listed on Monday's report, and his status will be closely watched when the final report lands Wednesday. McLaughlin was one of two new additions. Outside linebacker Anthony Nelson was limited Tuesday with an illness, also absent from Monday's report. There was at least one encouraging development: linebacker Josiah Trotter upgraded from limited to full participation despite a knee injury, and outside linebacker Rueben Bain Jr. was a full participant for the second straight day while managing groin and shoulder issues. Otherwise the list remains long. Quarterback Baker Mayfield stayed out with a right thumb injury — undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels will start his second straight game — while linebacker SirVocea Dennis, cornerback Benjamin Morrison and safety Antoine Winfield Jr., out two to four weeks with a rib fracture, did not participate. Tight end Ko Kieft remained limited with an elbow injury. Nine Buccaneers appeared on Tuesday's report, up from seven on Monday. Dallas enters as heavy favorites, and Tampa Bay can ill afford to lose its veteran kicker on a short week.
