Bucks Sign Johni Broome to Camp Deal, Waive John Butler Jr.
Milwaukee tweaked its training-camp roster, signing 2025 second-round pick Johni Broome and waiving John Butler Jr. ahead of Wednesday's preseason game in Oklahoma City.

The Milwaukee Bucks adjusted their training camp roster Tuesday, signing forward-center Johni Broome and waiving John Butler Jr. The move came after Monday's preseason opener — a 97-116 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves — and ahead of Wednesday's second preseason game at the Oklahoma City Thunder. Broome, 24, was the No. 35 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. The 6-foot-10 big man appeared in 11 games for Philadelphia last season and spent most of the year with the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League, where he averaged 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks across 26 games. At Auburn, he built a reputation as one of the nation's best shot blockers, averaging 2.5 rejections per game over a college career that began at Morehead State. Butler did not appear in Monday's preseason opener but played five summer-league games for Milwaukee. He spent last season with the Wisconsin Herd, the Bucks' G League affiliate, logging 49 games. Milwaukee practiced Tuesday before traveling to Oklahoma City for the second of its preseason games.
