Browns Have No Plans to Trade Shedeur Sanders Despite Bench Role
The Cleveland Browns have no plans to trade backup quarterback Shedeur Sanders, despite his lack of playing time behind a resurgent Deshaun Watson.

The Cleveland Browns have no plans to trade Shedeur Sanders, according to a report from Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot, ending speculation that the backup quarterback could be moved before the November 10 trade deadline. Sanders, who recently hired an agent for the first time in his career, had been linked with a move after falling firmly behind Deshaun Watson, who has led Cleveland to a 5-2 record with some of his best form in years. Sanders was expected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 draft before sliding to the sixth round, and many believed hiring representation earlier this month was a step toward facilitating a trade. Instead, Cleveland appears ready to keep developing the former Colorado star as a longer-term option, with Watson entering the final year of his contract. Sanders showed glimpses as a rookie, throwing for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in eight games after taking over from an injured Dillon Gabriel. For now, though, he remains stuck on the bench barring an injury to Watson, and the Browns seem content to wait.
