The Denver Broncos won a game their offense had no business winning.

Ja'Quan McMillian intercepted Sam Darnold's pass at the Seattle 43 on the first possession of overtime Thursday night, and Wil Lutz followed with a 53-yard field goal that gave the Broncos a 17-14 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks at Empower Field at Mile High.

Denver's defense did the heavy lifting all night — five sacks, three takeaways, and 168 yards allowed, the fewest in a win all season for the unit. The Broncos punted on all six of their second-half possessions and gained just 8 yards on the game-winning drive, yet never lost the lead after intermission.

Seattle made it interesting. Down 14-3, the Seahawks got a 1-yard George Holani touchdown and a Darnold-to-Rashid Shaheed two-point conversion with 5:41 left, then drove for Jason Myers' tying 34-yard field goal with three seconds left in regulation — seconds after Kris Abrams-Draine had intercepted Darnold near the goal line.

Darnold finished 27 of 51 for 278 yards with two interceptions and no touchdowns, under pressure on 24 dropbacks. Bo Nix was hardly better for Denver — 17 of 27 for 107 yards — drawing a postgame on-air roasting from Amazon analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick, who said Nix was playing "almost disrespectful to the quarterback position" football.

The Broncos (4-2) moved within a game of the undefeated Chiefs in the AFC West. The Seahawks (3-3) lost their second straight and matched last season's loss total.
