Brewers' World Series Parade Set for Friday as Milwaukee Prepares to Celebrate

Milwaukee is ready to party. The Brewers' World Series championship parade will take place on Friday in downtown Milwaukee, two days after the club clinched its first title in franchise history with a 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5. The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. at the intersection of North 4th Street and West Wisconsin Avenue before winding through downtown toward the lakefront. A championship rally will follow at Henry Maier Festival Park, which opens to the public at 8 a.m., with live music, food and big screens, and amphitheatre tickets for the rally speeches going on general sale at 2 p.m. Net proceeds will benefit the Brewers Community Foundation. Officials are anticipating a crowd of at least 400,000, nearly two-thirds of the city's population, and some believe even that estimate may prove conservative. Brewers fans paid a World Series record to attend Game 1 at American Family Field and travelled in huge numbers to Tampa for the clincher. After 58 seasons and a 44-year wait since the club's only previous World Series trip in 1982, Friday promises to be a celebration decades in the making.
