Ben Johnson's Bears Keep Winning — With a Different Quarterback Again

The Bears are 3-1 and keep winning no matter who plays quarterback, as Tyson Bagent and Kyle Monangai starred in a 23-12 dismantling of the Jets while Caleb Williams watched from the sidelines.

Ben Johnson's Bears Keep Winning — With a Different Quarterback Again

Chicago has a quarterback rotation that would make most teams nervous. The Bears have turned it into a winning formula. For the third straight game, Chicago won with a different starting quarterback, beating the New York Jets 23-12 on Sunday to move to 3-1 — and the architect of it all is head coach Ben Johnson.

With Caleb Williams sidelined for a second straight week by a right hamstring injury, backup Tyson Bagent threw for 268 yards while second-year running back Kyle Monangai carried a career-high 30 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns. The Bears piled up 492 yards of offense and 232 on the ground, set a franchise record with 34 first downs, and did not punt once — the first time since 2014.

The Jets, by contrast, were suffocated. New York managed just 157 yards and seven first downs, went 0-for-7 on third down, and watched Chicago hold the ball for nearly 43 minutes in what Colin Cowherd called one of the most lopsided time-of-possession differentials in recent memory.

"It's a quarterback-first league, but the guy who builds the culture is the coach," Cowherd said on The Herd, arguing Johnson — not Williams — is now the centerpiece of Chicago's revival. Three wins, three quarterbacks, one undeniable identity: the Bears are for real.
